{"id":696,"date":"2008-09-13T08:29:23","date_gmt":"2008-09-13T06:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fia.pimienta.org\/weblog\/?p=696"},"modified":"2008-09-13T08:29:23","modified_gmt":"2008-09-13T06:29:23","slug":"fwd-monitoring-of-women-in-poland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fia.pimienta.org\/weblog\/?p=696","title":{"rendered":"fwd: monitoring of women in poland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Please circulate widely!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dear Women,<\/p>\n<p>Poland\u2019s Minister of Health, Ewa Kopacz, has just announced the government\u2019s plan to establish a database of all pregnancies in Poland in an effort to eliminate illegal abortions.<\/p>\n<p>If this idea becomes law, every pregnant woman will be registered by her physician. Her pregnancy will remain under state surveillance, so that she cannot terminate it.<\/p>\n<p>We consider this a shocking violation of women\u2019s human rights, the right to privacy, as well as a blatant breach of patient-doctor confidentiality.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage you to join Polish women in responding to the Minister with letters and used tampons\/ sanitary napkins (a tampon soiled with red ink or juice will do just fine) proving that you are NOT pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the address and a sample letter you may enclose with the evidence:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Minister Ewa Kopacz<br \/>\nul. I thought you may be interested to know that I am not pregnant, and<br \/>\ntherefore unlikely to have an abortion. I send you my towel\/ tampon as proof.
